Level 2 Certifiied Coach,
In the summer of 1977
Marilyn touched a water polo ball for the first time. And for the past 32 years there haven't been too many weeks
where that was not a daily occurence.
Marilyn
played on the provincial women's team for 15 years and the Senior National team for 8 years, most recently more as
a recreational player (active for life). She earned a bronze medal at the Canada Summer Games in 1981; gold at the 1987 Western
Canada Summer Games; won multiple bronze medals at both Junior and Senior National Championships between 1978 and 1992. She
was named “MVP” at Junior Nationals in 1983; MVP at Senior Nationals in 1991. World Championship Silver Medal
in 1991 and National Championship Gold Medal also in 1991. She also played in the FINA World Masters Championships in August
2006 and won silver in the 30+ age category.
Marilyn's coaching career has almost been as
long as her playing career. She first coached in summer of 1979 when she ran a series of rural clinics. She coached
provincial Youth and Cadet Teams in late 80’s and early 90’s. (Youth Girls won Bronze medal at National Championships
in 1992.) She has coached for Neptunes since about 2002, focusing on Cadet/Youth Girls and Open Women. Open Women won
Bronze Medal at Tier 2 National Championships in 2003 and 2004.
